What does the Open Coast CMP cover?

The open coastline from just north of Crowdy Head to Hawks Nest, except for:

  • The Old Bar and Manning Point CMP area. A CMP for Old Bar and Manning Point is being developed ahead of the Open Coast CMP.
  • Smiths Lake entrance which is part of the Southern Estuaries CMP.

Why are we doing this?

The NSW Government introduced new legislation in 2016. This requires Council to convert all previous Coastal Zone Management Plans (CZMPs) to Coastal Management Plans (CMPs).

The Open Coast CMP is being developed to update the Manning, Great Lakes and Jimmys Beach Coastal Zone Management Plans. You can read the existing Coastal Zone Management Programs in the document library.

What's happening now?

We are calling for nominations from community members and Aboriginal traditional land owners to form a Reference Group.

The reference group will advise Council on management options to develop a coastal management program.

Nominations close on Wednesday 19 November
