Floods and heavy rain events over the past two years have had an enormous impact on our already battling rural roads.

To be able to address some of this impact, the elected Councillors set aside $7.5 million from the 2022-23 budget specifically for a local road repair program.

This fund is being used to target sections of local roads where excessive levels of maintenance are required to keep the road in a satisfactory condition, but the road is not deteriorated enough for inclusion in the annual roads work plan. We want to bring these roads up to a condition where the need for repeat maintenance will be minimised.

A total of 30 sections of road, on 22 roads, will be targeted through the program.

The sections of road identified for repair are those that regularly result in requests from the community for repair, need excessive maintenance and are in a condition that can be repaired (rather than requiring full reconstruction).
