Applications for Service NSW Personal Hardship Grant for flood affected areas extended

19 June 2025

The NSW Government will extend applications for the Service NSW Personal Hardship Grant for people in flood affected areas for an extra 22 days to make sure that no one is left behind.

Grant applications were initially meant to close on 26 June 2025 but will now remain open until Monday 21 July 2025.

This will mean that residents in the suburbs and localities that have been recently assessed by the NSW Reconstruction Authority as eligible will have plenty of time to apply for the grant.

The Reconstruction Authority is continuing to assess suburbs and localities. An initial 142 eligible suburbs and localities were identified using immediately available SES isolation and rapid damage assessment data, and areas that were subject to evacuation orders. Further suburbs and localities have been added as assessments continued.

Another 53 suburbs and localities have been added this week after assessing additional data relating to suburbs being raised by local representatives. The NSW Reconstruction Authority is continuing to assess other areas as more data becomes available.

More than 31,000 people have successfully applied for personal hardship assistance and at least 319 applications have been received for the Small Business and Non-Profit recovery grant.

Recovery Centres have continued to operate on the ground to support people in need. More than10,000 people have attended a Recovery Centre or Recovery Access Point since 27 May 2025.

The NSW Government continues to support primary producers and small businesses through Category C assistance.

So far more than 300 applications have been received for Category C assistance and those approvals are currently being assessed. The Government has also received more than 50 applications for the Rural Landholder Grant that are also currently being assessed and disbursed.

Primary producers have also continued to engage with the Primary Industries Natural Disaster Damage Assessment survey. The survey has logged 568 damage reports to primary producers and more than $94 million in total damage.

The survey will also assist the NSW Government in regard to delivering additional support for affected primary producers and small businesses. The NSW Government is continuing to work with the Commonwealth on delivering that additional support.
