Flood waste will continue to be collected for free from kerbsides in flood-impacted areas for as long as required.

This includes waste resulting from internal strip-outs such as flood-damaged gyprock, carpets, floor linings, and other debris removed from homes.

This service will now be delivered by inspection, ensuring support is directed to properties genuinely affected by the recent severe flood event.

Residents or businesses can ring and register their pile for collection by calling MidCoast Council on 7955 7777 and take option 1, you will then speak to one of our customer service staff who will take details from you.

If possible the waste should be sorted into piles on the kerb into the following categories - green waste, whitegoods/ metal, household chemicals and general waste.

Self-hauled flood waste will be accepted at Taree and Gloucester at a reduced rate of $198.10 per tonne, reflecting the waiver of the State Waste Levy.

For anyone who is in the unfortunate position of having to deal with deceased animals, requests for assistance regarding carcass disposal to be lodged via the Animal and Agricultural Services Hotline by calling 1800 814 647.

Any oyster lease infrastructure (including baskets, poles, longlines and buoys) that has been dislodged by flood waters and washed up can be collected (if safe to do so) and deposited at a nearby location such as a public boat ramp or park.

Oyster industry workers will be patrolling these areas and will endeavour to remove the infrastructure.

The public is advised not to harvest and consume any oysters – either cultivated or wild – due to severe health risks as a result of contaminated water.

Only purchase and eat oysters from appropriate retail outlets.
