We received a large number of submissions during our public consultation on the Vehicles on Beaches Policy. This community feedback raised a number of other issues about activities that take place on our beaches, including dogs, other animals etc, that impact on how our beaches are used.

As a result we are looking at a policy framework that addresses a range of beach uses and activities on a beach by beach basis. This framework allows tailored solutions to be developed beach by beach so we can deliver the best outcome for our community. We will be consulting with the community on this approach in 2026.

AIM OF THE POLICY

This policy aims to protect the coastal environment, nesting shorebirds, flora, fauna and beach users. The policy is supported by guidelines that provide conditions of use for vehicle permits that enable access to beaches in MidCoast Council’s region.
