Overview

We have updated our Destination Management Plan to guide the development of the Barrington Coast tourist region into the future. The plan aims to set the direction and priorities to sustainably grow our visitor economy to 2030 and beyond.

It includes a new short-term action plan to guide our path for the next three years. The action plan supports regional promotion, visitation and prosperity while addressing barriers and challenges faced by the region.

The plan focuses on sustainable growth, with people spending more money, staying longer, and exploring the region all year round, while also protecting the environment, culture, and community.

Importantly, it’s a plan for the whole region, not just individual businesses or operators. It aims to foster a vibrant visitor economy and promote liveability, which will deliver tangible benefits to businesses as well as the community.

Community consultation

The plan was developed in consultation with local industry groups and representatives.

The draft plan was placed on public exhibition late in 2023 and the community asked to provide their feedback to the document.

A report was then presented to the elected Council in March 2024 to endorse a final version of the plan.
