Exhibition period

The draft plan was on public exhibition for community feedback from Monday 19 February until Sunday 24 March, where we received 8 formal submissions.

The feedback received from the community was considered and some changes were made to the draft plan.

The plan was then adopted by the elected Council at the 22 May 2024 Ordinary Meeting.

COMMUNITY FEEDBACK

Feedback from submissions was mainly expressing community concerns about the plans potential impact on the critically endangered Pale Yellow Doubletail orchid (Diuris flavescens).

Other feedback included request for Koala food trees to be planted instead of Cyprus Pine trees, request for inclusion of seating, toilets and portable water supply included in the cemetery and requests for different materials to be used for the entrance gate.

Changes in response to submissions

No changes were needed to protect the critically endangered Pale Yellow Doubletail orchid (Diuris flavescens). An external ecological assessment of the draft Landscape Improvement Plan to review the impacts on the native vegetation and threatened species habitat has already been completed. The assessment concluded that the proposed draft was unlikely to lead to a significant impact on the threatened species.

Seating has been incorporated into the plan based on community feedback.

A sandstone memorial wall has been included with a new cemetery identification sign fixed to road side of the wall.
