The trial is a recommendation in the MidCoast Recreational Boating Infrastructure Plan.

The Plan identifies that this area should operate with restricted access for motorised watercraft during peak times to allow safe pedestrian access around the amenities, café and baths.

  • The Little Street baths and boat ramp is a popular lakeside recreation spot, with a swimming area, amenities and café either side of the boat ramp

  • During summer, the area is very busy with foot traffic crossing the boat ramp.

  • The boat ramp is congested with vehicles launching boats and people using the ramp.

  • Motorised watercraft can use the ramp after sunset and before sunrise during the trial.

  • From February through to November, the boat ramp can be used by motorised craft again at any time.

Motorised craft users can access Wallis Lake at anytime at the following locations: Forster Marina, Tuncurry (Point Road), Elizabeth Reserve (Forster Keys), Pacific Palms (Recreation Club) and Coomba Park foreshore.

Engagement outcomes

A look at what you told us during the first trial and how we kept you informed.

Thanks to everyone who provided feedback on the first trial. We will ask for more feedback after the second trial is complete, in early 2026.

We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which we work and live, the Gathang-speaking people and pay our respects to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who now reside in the MidCoast Council area. We extend our respect to elders past and present, and to all future cultural-knowledge holders.
