Celebrating International Day of People with Disability with the grand opening of the Imagine Art Exhibition.

Overview

In celebration of 2022 International Day of People with Disability, Dundaloo Support Services in partnership with MidCoast Council and the Manning Regional Art Gallery are proud to announce this year’s community art project called “Imagine”.

The Manning Regional Art Gallery will host the 'Imagine' art exhibition opening at 10:30am on Friday 2 December 2022. The artworks will be displayed on the external wall of the art gallery.

Last year’s project, “We Are One” was such a huge success, culminating in over 150 artworks that were exhibited as a collage on the Regional Gallery wall for over six months. The positive outcomes for many people were unfathomable, reaching out to hundreds of people living with disability across our LGA and beyond as far as Norfolk Island. There were so many stunning submissions, the project sparked artistic flare for people painting for their very first time.

We have decided to make this an annual event and are inviting people living with disability to paint again with the theme of “Imagine”. We know we are bound to get some incredible artworks.

The concept is that nobody misses out should they wish to take part and in turn have their piece of art displayed as part of the community exhibition. All the works, will be again exhibited both in hard copy but also in digital form to be used as part of an “All Abilities Concert” on the River Stage in Taree on the 3 December also titled “Imagine”.

What does International Day of People with Disability celebrate?

International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD) is held on 3 December each year.

IDPwD is a United Nations observed day celebrated internationally. It aims to increase public awareness, understanding and acceptance of people with disability and celebrate their achievements and contributions.

IDPwD is an opportunity for us to make positive changes to the lives of the 4.4 million Australians with disability.
