Overview

A section of the water distribution network at Coopernook will be reconfigured to reduce leaks and provide a higher level of service to properties in Lansdowne.

A water main that runs from Harrington Road to Coopernook Reservoir is aged, prone to leaks and located in marshy terrain, which makes it difficult to repair and maintain.

Rather than replace the main along its current alignment, we’re taking the opportunity to reconfigure the water network in the area. This will allow us to decommission other aged assets, upsize the network for future growth and provide a higher level of service to properties in Lansdowne.

A new 250mm water main will be built from the North Coopernook Reservoir to an existing pipeline west of the Coopernook Reservoir.

This main will replace the 200mm main that runs from Harrington Road to the Coopernook Reservoir, along with a 155mm main that runs from Coopernook to the Coopernook Reservoir. The Coopernook Reservoir will also be decommissioned.

Construction of the new main will take place along George Gibson Drive, Macquarie Street, Bangalow Road, High Street and Sunnyside Lane.

By replacing the aged mains and reconfiguring the network we will reduce the amount of maintenance required in the area and improve the level of service to properties in Lansdowne. The new 250mm main will also accommodate increases in population in Coopernook and Lansdowne.
