Background

Council received funding through the NSW State Government Regional NSW Business Case and Strategy Development Fund Round One to develop the Northen Gateway Airport/Transport Hub Master Plan.

The Project Precinct encompasses the sites known as the Northern Gateway Transport Hub and the Taree Airport, which includes both road and air transport opportunities.


key features of the master plan

  • Road freight sub-precinct

    Includes new roadways, road connectivity between the airport and industrial precincts, addressing ecological considerations and flood-free development opportunities.

  • Aviation sub-precinct

    Includes a taxi-way, inter-precinct hanger, rotary wing hub and diversification opportunities of airport terminal, population serving hub, main runway hanger and potential test hub for Advanced Air Mobility.

Frequently asked questions

Future development on Council land will be dependent on Council’s available resources, external funding and development interest from the market sectors. Development on privately owned land will be the responsibility of the landowner.
