What you told us

There was mixed feedback on the Draft CMP with some people supportive of its climate-aware approach. Overall people want direct action instead of prolonged studies. They want to balance environment, safety, tourism, and property rights.

Common themes

  • Coast and Environment

Protecting dunes and habitats is important, and unsafe driving or camping needs to be reduced.

Impacted property owners should bear costs, and new development should avoid high-risk areas.

  • Infrastructure and Repairs

Urgent work is needed to protect Council and community assets, including the spur wall.

Restoring sand flow and keeping both entrances open should be prioritised. Other ways to add sand and protect the coastline should also be explored.

  • Community and Tourism

Maintaining vegetation and taking proactive steps to protect the coast are key priorities.

Ensuring emergency services can access the area is essential.

  • Property and Council Responsibilities

Clear guidance is needed on property access, temporary measures, Council responsibilities, and long-term planning for affected roads and infrastructure.

Further work is needed on technical reports, erosion causes, and possible engineering solutions.
