For local landholders

We are looking to partner with landholders of riverfront properties in the Barnard, Dingo and Nowendoc Catchments as shown on the River Revival project area map.

Sites of interest

Sites of interest in the River Revival project include rocky rivers and streams with some gravel or sand banks, relatively clear water and pools between 2-3 metres in depth.

Assistance is available

Assistance is available to you to do valuable on-ground work such as restoration of riparian vegetation including rainforest fruit food-plants, weed and pest animal controls, in-stream habitat enhancement, erosion control and fencing for stock exclusion. You can also help with RiverWatch water monitoring activities.

Impacts we want to address

There are several impacts we want to address in the River Revival project, including:

  • erosion and sedimentation
  • loss of riverbank vegetation
  • weeds
  • feral pest predation
  • cattle access

All work will be voluntary

All work conducted by you in the River Revival project will be voluntary and negotiated to fit in with your own goals and aspirations for land management. The work will integrate with sustainable agriculture across the focus areas.

Expressions of interest

When you express interest to partner with us in the River Revival project, a catchment officer will attend your property to assess if it is suitable.

Financial assistance and technical support will be available

There will be financial assistance and technical support available if your restoration opportunities meet the project goals, tailored to fit our mutual needs.

Options for consideration include:

  • A site remediation action plan with target weeds, control methods, revegetation plan, fencing and off-stream watering
  • A contract crew to undertake on-ground work and follow-up maintenance
  • Fox and pig control by a contractor
  • In-stream habitat enhancement such as fish hotels and grooming nest sites

Site visits by our Catchment Team
