Thank you for providing input into our first region-wide Open Space and Recreation Strategy.

A draft Open Space and Recreation Strategy is now being developed using your input. We will ask you for your feedback again once the draft strategy has been produced.

Between June and November 2022, we asked you for your thoughts on how you would like our open spaces to be developed, maintained and planned over the next 10-15 years.

We heard from local residents across the MidCoast, as well as visitors to our region.

This snapshot provides an overview of how we got the word out and how people got involved. We will provide a more in depth report on all the feedback we received on this project when the draft strategy is placed on public exhibition for further community comment.

  • 36% said they play at a playground
  • 27% said they do fitness activities including outdoor gyms
  • 21% said they cycle on road and bike paths

Below are some of the interesting ideas you have asked us to consider.

What's next?

Over the coming months, we will be developing the draft Open Space and Recreation Strategy using the input from the community as well as the findings from the Open Space and Recreation Needs Analysis. In early 2023, we will seek feedback on the draft strategy from the community. Submissions on the draft strategy will be used to inform the final strategy that will go to Council for endorsement in mid-2023.
