Community halls improvement program

Community halls are the heart of many of our MidCoast communities.

Our community halls played an incredibly important role during the 2019 black summer bushfire disaster. We saw them provide a focal point for communities to come together to get through the devastation of the event, and to gain support in the aftermath.

As a result, we have invested $1.4 million of Australian Government funding allocated to MidCoast Council into 55 community halls, 23 are owned by MidCoast Council, and 32 are owned by the community.

We have worked with the hall committees and communities in these areas to determine priorities, and delivered upgrades in line with the funding agreement.

Rainbow flat finally gets a grant to build a hall, but no land given to put it on. We can’t build it if no land to put it on.

From the 1960’s I have enjoyed social events in many of our country halls. Generators are a great but security of them should be considered
