The MidCoast Economic Development Strategy 2023–2028 Review was on public exhibition from 28 April to 26 May 2026. During this time, Council invited feedback from the community, businesses and stakeholders on the proposed updates to the strategy.
Two submissions were received during the exhibition period. The feedback received was reviewed and considered by Council. A summary of submissions and responses is available here.
The reviewed MidCoast Economic Development Strategy 2023–2028 was adopted at the 27 May 2026 Council meeting.
The two submissions received focused on opportunities to strengthen tourism, support economic growth and improve the long-term resilience of the MidCoast economy.

Council carefully considered all feedback received during the exhibition period. The submissions highlighted opportunities that are already reflected in Council's broader strategic planning framework, including the Economic Development Strategy, Destination Management Plan, Housing Strategy and ongoing asset management initiatives.
As a result, no changes were required to the draft MidCoast Economic Development Strategy 2023–2028 Review.
The plan aims to set the direction and priorities to sustainably grow the visitor economy of the MidCoast Council region to 2030 and beyond. Adopted 20 March 2024.
We invited business, industry and community members to share feedback on our first Economic Development Strategy. It was endorsed by Council in June 2023.
We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which we work and live, the Gathang-speaking people and pay our respects to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who now reside in the MidCoast Council area. We extend our respect to elders past and present, and to all future cultural-knowledge holders.
