The MidCoast Economic Development Strategy 2023–2028 Review was on public exhibition from 28 April to 26 May 2026. During this time, Council invited feedback from the community, businesses and stakeholders on the proposed updates to the strategy.

Two submissions were received during the exhibition period. The feedback received was reviewed and considered by Council. A summary of submissions and responses is available here.

The reviewed MidCoast Economic Development Strategy 2023–2028 was adopted at the 27 May 2026 Council meeting.

Community feedback

The two submissions received focused on opportunities to strengthen tourism, support economic growth and improve the long-term resilience of the MidCoast economy.

Key themes included:

  • Ideas to enhance tourism infrastructure and visitor experiences.
  • Suggestions to improve the performance and use of Council assets and infrastructure.
  • Opportunities to support business growth, investment and employment.
  • Long-term approaches to building economic resilience and sustainability.

Council's responses to the submissions can be viewed in the submission summary and response document.

Changes based on your feedback

Council carefully considered all feedback received during the exhibition period. The submissions highlighted opportunities that are already reflected in Council's broader strategic planning framework, including the Economic Development Strategy, Destination Management Plan, Housing Strategy and ongoing asset management initiatives.

As a result, no changes were required to the draft MidCoast Economic Development Strategy 2023–2028 Review.
