Along with Take3 for the Sea and the Hunter Local Land Services, we've been working with Student Representative Leaders from High Schools in the Mid Coast region to create awareness in their respective schools and find solutions to protect the ecology of our marine environments.

Unlike naturally-based paper or glass, plastic never truly goes away; it just breaks down into smaller pieces. That means that every piece of plastic that has ever been made is still around today. These smaller pieces of plastic act like magnets for toxic chemicals and can contaminate the flesh of marine animals - many of which we eat.

For more information on the Take 3 schools program in the MidCoast area, email us at education@midcoast.nsw.gov.au.

You can also become part of the solution: Take 3 pieces of rubbish with you when you leave the beach, waterway or anywhere and you have made a difference.
