Our marine facilities

The MidCoast has an extensive network of stunning rivers, waterways, coastal estuaries and beaches.

The marine environment is a harsh one, so we undertake an ongoing program of maintenance and replacement of facilities including boat ramps, jetties, wharves, pontoons, fishing tables, marine pump out stations, and swimming enclosures.

Flood funded repairs

  • $3.25 million for aquatic infrastructure

    $3.25 million of Government funding has been allocated for aquatic infrastructure repairs.

    This includes repairs to pontoons at Endeavour Reserve, Queen Elizabeth Park, River Street and pontoon and wharf replacement at Bohnock, Croki, Tinonee, Manning Point, Pampoolah, Old Bar, Wallis Lake and Wingham.

  • $414,000 for boat ramp repairs

    $414,000 of Government funding has been allocated for boat ramp repairs.

    This includes work at Andrews Reserve, Bohnock Reserve, Croki, Horace Dean, Bulahdelah, Manning Point, Manning Waters and Wingham.

Underway

  • Coomba Park swimming enclosure

    New license submitted including design and survey. Anticipated response April 2024. We will liaise with the community, Fisheries and Crown Lands. The project is expected to begin later this year.

  • Tea Gardens jetty replacement

    Upgrades to Tea Gardens jetty and boat ramp began in late April. These include widening and lengthening the existing boat ramp and installing a floating centre pontoon. The boat rigging area will also be extended.

    The jetty, boat ramp and part of the carpark in Apex Park will be closed for the duration of the works. They will take 12 weeks to complete, weather permitting.

    The ramps on Marine Drive in Tea Gardens, and Moira Parade in Hawks Nest will be available for use during construction.

    The swimming enclosure and picnic space has had a complete makeover.

  • Forster - Pelican Boardwalk low level landing

    Construction of the Pelican Board Walk Lower Level Landing commenced at the end of April. These works are funded by Local Roads Community Infrastructure Round 1.

    The new lower-level sports craft landing is being incorporated in the highly used area adjacent to the existing Pelican Board Walk.

    The new addition to the existing board walk will accommodate additional watercraft access to the Wallis Lake. Works are expected to be complete late July.

  • Forster Main Beach Masterplan

    The Masterplan’s purpose is to allow us to attract funding to upgrade the Forster Main Beach precinct.

  • Great Lakes Aquatic Centre air conditioner upgrade

    Expected delivery of materials and work to commence in June 2024.

  • Forster - Pelican Boardwalk Phase 2

    Still in Planning phase. Waiting on approval from Fisheries (DPI). Tender expected to open mid- 2024.
    Project includes the construction of a 120-metre section of suspended boardwalk on the iconic Wallis Lake, adjacent to Forster town centre. The new work will provide a continuation of the much-loved Memorial Drive Boardwalk and provides a new experience as it will be built out over the water, allowing access by all ages and abilities within the community and visitors to the area.

  • Little Street Baths net replacement

  • Dolphin Drive - retaining wall

    The Dolphin Drive pedestrian pathway, which runs along the Forster Boat Harbour, underwent repairs to the retaining wall in March 2024.

  • Allworth boat ramp and jetty

    The boat ramp and jetty were upgraded in 2024.

  • Hawks Nest fishing platform and jetty

    Replacement of timber decking with non-slip (FRP) Treadwell decking. Replacement of kerbs/kick boards and installation of low table/platform.

  • Forster - Little Street Shared Pathway Extension

    Pathway extension along the Forster foreshore including shared ramps, driveways and parking.

  • Ellenborough Falls walkway

    Maintenance work on the stairway including the replacement of platforms and stairways with non-slip product (FRP) whilst retaining as much original timber material as possible along with the original footprint.

    New signage is being developed in cooperation with Natural Systems.
